Long John Silver Wooden Leg

Wooden leg sock setSo, I recently did the play, Treasure Island for Kids, and it was an absolute blast. However, when it came to costumes, those were relatively easy, until… Long John Silver.  How do I show a wooden leg on a kid, on stage? I can’t have him hoping around the entire time, bound to cause tripping issues.  I can’t tie up his leg behind him, something about loosing blood flow…  Maybe I tape some cardboard around his leg? That just seems like a pain in the butt! However, I found a great solution! On Amazon, there is a wooden pirate leg sock set… the BEST idea!!!  What’s even better is I had him call out his wooden leg in the beginning of the play, so the audience would understand what the sock was, and voila, wooden leg issue solved!!!

Just wanted to write this for any teachers who need to get a wooden leg for their performance!

Enjoy!
